Hana and Matt’s CT fall engagement session at Elizabeth Park in Hartford CT was a lot of fun! I expected nothing less based on our initial zoom meeting. In my notes I wrote ‘Pretty Silly People’ a direct quote from them, and they were right! One of my favorite parts of engagement sessions is really seeing how each persons personality comes through. Sometimes it can take a while, which is why I really advise clients to do an engagement session if they are not really comfortable in front of the camera. Sometimes it happens immediately, although it is rare. The important thing to note is that it is truly a collaboration between the three of us. I’m not a magician who can just POOF! make every moment magical and you feel 100% effortless in front of the camera, all while looking like professional models.
In all my years photographing couples for their fall engagement session at Hartford’s Elizabeth Park, I haven’t photographed in this particular spot before! Those birch trees on that little island in the pond were just calling to me. So was that little pop of color in the back, and those pristine reflections! So I heeded the call, and we made some magical photos together!
We spent the afternoon chasing the light, looking for pops of color and the feel of fall in New England. All while being silly, making faces and busting dance moves, or almost falling for literally no reason (Hana LOL) I really love how these images capture Hana and Matt and show their silly side and their tender side.
