Carla Ten Eyck

Blog

My most important job as your  photographer is to tell the story of your wedding day while making you and your family and friends comfortable. The more comfortable you are, the better your pictures will be. My typical client is a lover of photography, art and design. They are someone who has to have beautiful photographs. Someone who cries openly or laughs so hard they snort! Someone who just lets me do what I do best, and trusts my many years of experience in the industry. Whether you are the most camera-shy person or the biggest ham, there is no cookie-cutter approach to every client. I will get you comfortable in a way that is best for you.

Welcome to my blog!  Here you can view my most recent weddings, events and other fun sessions. Grab a cup of coffee and get comfortable, I have been blogging since 2006, so there is all of the content to do a deep dive and see if I am the right fit for you and your event!

I pride myself on being a welcoming and inclusive photographer and human being and embrace everyone. I am so happy you are here to view my work, stay as long as you’d like and please feel free to leave a comment or share any posts! XO Carla

William H. Buckley Farm Wedding with Carla Ten Eyck

When Kat and I FaceTimed for our first meeting, I felt like we could stay and chat all day, despite her business as a Landscape Designer at her company, Staghorn NYC, in full bustle all around her. She was so passionate about what they were planning for their day, and passionate about securing a photographer who she connected with, and we hit it off, instantly! I showed up to their venue in the rolling hills of Ballston Spa, NY and was just filled with excitement for the day. What a gorgeous property! Kat + Michael had their wedding party Read More

Winter St. Clements Castle Wedding Preview with Carla Ten Eyck

Oh, yesterday. I am still processing my feelings from Rachel and Gabby’s wedding but am so excited to share a few of the images from their super emotional, super amazing day.  Gabby and Rachel are the most eloquent writers, their vows just about blew the roof off the church, there was not a dry eye in sight. I was literally stopped in my tracks to the point where I set my camera down so I could absorb the words better. I felt completely transformed. I plan on writing so much more when I post their full post here so Read More

ct winter seaside engagement session

Last week I had a winter engagement session on the beach in Stratford CT, which sounds super fun, and looks even better than it sounds, am I right?? What you can’t tell here is that Coco + Joe, affectionately known as CocoJoe and I were freezing our faces off pretty much the entire time! All I can see when I look through their images is warmth and love. I can still hear Coco’s laugh, inevitable no matter how serious she starts off, erupting like a volcano on a tropical island, so warm and full of life. Joe is like Read More

hartford ct engagement session with carla ten eyck

Winter engagement sessions in my hometown of Hartford really make my heart skip a beat, and my session with Michaela and Artur was no exception! After being super patient and having to reschedule twice because of these crazy bomb cyclone storms we got (I mean, honestly, what the WHAT??) we all finally got a chance to spend some time together and see what our chemistry was like together! To set the scene: Michaela and I met at my studio when she was looking to book her wedding photographer and just clicked! Embrace the pun, people, please! She was Read More

bee and thistle wedding old lyme ct

Brianna and Sam were married at one of my very favorite Connecticut venues, The Bee and Thistle Inn in Old Lyme on a gorgeous Saturday in September. It was threatening to rain most of the day, and the skies were gloomy and dark and dramatic, and while I kind of loved the light it was giving us for our portraits I was sending little prayers to the universe to please just let them get married outside by the river like they had envisioned since booking this charming spot for their wedding! We had planned the schedule with perfection and Read More

Backyard CT Beach Wedding with Carla Ten Eyck

When I heard my friend Chris was engaged I was so excited. Not only for the fact that he has been Hartford’s most eligible bachelor for like, ever, but also because a party by the Peters family is always a good time, and I knew this one would be one for the books. I’ve known Chris since I was in fifth grade and became instant besties with his cousin Bethany, who is still one of my very best friends to this day, 34 years ago. So we have been through some things in our lives together, as you can Read More

Copper Beech Inn Wedding with Carla Ten Eyck

I met Tosh while photographing a wedding at her place of business, The Bee + Thistle Inn in Old Lyme CT and from that experience on we knew it was a love like no other. She is such a professional, knows her stuff and is HILARIOUS. I get so excited when  i find others like me who can switch into work / professional mode on a dime and then be silly the next. Read the room, people! And Miss Tosh is a pro at it! So naturally we love working together creating amazing experiences for our shared clients and Read More

Life Milestone: Our First Home Together

‘I’ll light the fire
you place the flowers in the vase
that you bought today
staring at the fire
for hours and hours
while I listen to you
play your love songs
all night long for me
only for me’
Our House – Graham Nash
When a client inquires with you about photographing them, it’s a bit of a wild card. Do they love your work and can see what makes you…you? Are they price shopping and just looking for the best deal, as long as everything is in focus? Did they speak to a past client of yours Read More

Same Sex Wedding at the Pond House Cafe with Carla Ten Eyck

When Stacy reached out to me for her wedding to Jenese, I was beyond excited. Not only was I pumped that I was available for it (I was not for her first wedding) but also because she had found her true love. I knew it as soon as I saw them both together. They just… clicked. The way they looked at one another, the way they were so gentle with each other, how easily they laughed with one another. It’s the stuff that I can’t wait to have , but delight in seeing my friends, clients and family have. Read More

Backyard CT Tented Wedding with a Puppy Surprise

This amazing backyard tented wedding in Glastonbury CT was perfect in so many ways, the weather was hand picked from my list of perfect weather for weddings and there was a PUPPY SURPRISE! Let’s start with the weather… The last time I had been at their home, where the wedding was, it was for their engagement session, you can see it HERE. Unfortunately it down poured like crazy, so I wasn’t able to see their yard in its full glory, although I still created some romantic imagery with them both. Their wedding day made up for that in spades! Read More
