The Eustis Estate wedding of Brandon and Michael in Milton MA could not have been more perfect. It was a quintessential autumn day in New England in October with crisp air and vibrant color. I arrived early and scouted the grounds and was immediately taken with the wispy fields, and colorful trees. There were sculptures scattered about the 80 acre property and I found myself wishing I had a golf cart to tool around in and get access to the many picturesque spots with my grooms. But, with limited time and light, I had to make do with what we had, and boy was it marvelous!
“Explore a rare surviving example of late nineteenth-century architecture and design. Designed by renowned Boston architect William Ralph Emerson and built in 1878, the Eustis Estate sits on eighty acres of picturesque landscape at the base of the Blue Hills. Full of stunning, intact architectural and design details, the Eustis Estate is a historic site unlike any other in the Greater Boston area.”
When I googled where their wedding was going to be held, I was excited to be able to explore a new property and create some magic. A new site, and two new grooms who I had never even spoken to until they got out of their car and met me on their wedding day, yes please and thank you, I’ll take it! I welcome the challenge that newness brings, reading the light and finding spots that intrigue and inspire me all while making sure my clients feel comfortable. Brandon and Michael had slight wedding day jitters but were happy to just relax and laugh into our pre wedding portrait session. In a matter of minutes we were all laughing and cackling together in the fields surrounding the Eustis Estate!
I was introduced to these two loves via an Engage friend of mine, Ken Jones Jr. of This Beautiful Life. Ken and his husband Ron are a part of the team who do the gifting for the conference I photograph and since we are all a part of the behind the scenes team, we have grown close over the years. Michael and Ken are very close friends and Ken knew that I was the perfect photographer for them. Two minutes into our session and I think we all knew he was spot on!
There was just so. much. laughing! Just the way I like it!
The overcast day created a nice soft light that just allowed the colors of fall to pop.
I love how Michael looks at Brandon, just filled with love and adoration and calm.
Ken and Ron constructed this gorgeous foliage towers for the ceremony. They went up to Brandon and Michael’s house in New Hampshire to gather the foliage, and it was MAGNIFICENT!
There were so many great windows with beautiful views. I loved reading the light and creating portraits with it!
This little pocket of light made me want to literally scream at the top of my lungs with pure unadulterated JOY + MIRTH! I love how perfectly Brandon fits into it.
The florals were perfect. Colorful, vibrant and so lovely!
When I was upstairs doing some portraits I noticed the amazing view of the ceremony and knew I had to hoof it up there for this shot. And hoof it I did! Spry like a gazelle I sprinted upstairs and caught this gorgeous view!
Our friends, Ken and Ron, watch on.
What a cutie pie Michael is!
Brandon was moved and had to pause, hand on heart, to catch his words. It was a tender and special moment.
Seriously, could these two look any happier?!
I love how Michael’s Mom jumped in here with her grandkids for a funny face pic!
Their guest book was an outline of the stained glass in the front door of the estate, and guests colored it in all night! Even I participated!
A lovely surprise for me was to see a dear friend of mine at their wedding! Thea had us all in tears during her emotional toast to her good friend Michael!
Brandon and Michael, thank you so much for trusting me with your wedding day. I was honored to be accepted so lovingly into your circle, and adored meeting your family and friends! Congratulations to you both! XOXO
