Lake Waramaug in New Preston CT is one of the most special places for an engagement session! I hadn’t been there for years, but when my clients Rachel and Glenn suggested it for their engagement session a few weeks back, I was instantly on board. I remembered it being peaceful and quintessential Connecticut. Not only that, but the location that Rachel and Glenn chose was super special to Glenn. He and his family have worked at the beach club on Lake Waramaug for years, so literally every nook and cranny of the space carried memories. The beach club on the lake was so charming and had so many spots to poke into for photos! My heart was so full of light and energy and excitement, and I was so grateful for being able to do an engagement session safely while remembering how much I love being a photographer!
The image below was one of the very first photos we created together. It’s always a little nerve-racking- for all of us! I explain expectations of their sessions, how I work and how I will either guide them if they need direction or if their laughter at feeling uncomfortable creates the magic that we all love. This here is Rachel and Glenn laughing at how excited I get when it all just works out! See, I’m not a magician and don’t promise to just create gorgeous imagery alone. Photography is not a solo sport. It’s a team effort; it’s you and your partner letting me in, trusting me to guide you, to see the light, to give you direction if you need any, to give you FEEDBACK! Feedback is so important. How do you know if what you are doing looks good? My advice? Listen to my reactions!
I honestly could have just done their entire session on this dock. So many angles, so much to see and explore!
The changing rooms were so inspiring as well. Quaint as all get out! I kept thinking about how Glenn has known this space for so long… and it made my heart squeeze. I know that feeling intimately, living in my childhood home and driving by the field where I learned to play soccer right around the corner from my house. Every corner has a memory.
Rachel and Glenn are avid kayakers and wanted to include this during their session, and I was super happy to oblige.
This swing on Lake Waramaug made my heart leap out of my chest! I am so in love with these images, the light and the feelings of each and every image!
This little boat was filled with water, but Rachel and Glenn scooped some of it out, and snuggled up for the last bit of light. It was magic.
Rachel and Glenn, thank you so much for trusting me with your engagement session. I loved getting to know you both more during our time on Lake Waramaug, and am really excited to meet all fo your families next year at your wedding at The Fox Hill Inn!
