Kristin and Chris’ summer wedding at The Inn at Mystic in Mystic CT was on a gorgeous day. They decided to host an intimate wedding with those closest to them for their wedding, so every person there was someone very special. I love intimate weddings, and Kristin and Chris’ wedding was no exception. When I met with them before booking, they both mentioned being a little nervous being photographed, as most of my couples are! We opted for an engagement session to help them feel more comfortable so that their portrait session during their wedding would be easier. I can bet you they were so glad they did that, since out portrait session was effortless and they knew exactly what to expect from me! You can check out their gorgeous engagement session in Hartford’s Elizabeth Park HERE.
If there is one thing I know better than most, it’s how to find the best light. If you have looked at my work and hired me, then you already know how I interpret light with my camera. The tricky part is when you are with me you may not see things as I do, which then becomes my favorite part! I love showing my clients the way I see when they are with me and hearing their reactions when they can see what I am getting in camera. It’s my super power as a photographer and becomes the biggest trust builder with my clients.
We started the day at The Inn at Mystic on a sunny day with a scant bit of cloud cover for the most part of the day. I knew it would burn nice and slow, leaving us with a beautiful golden hour of light later, and I was excited for it!

Their wedding ceremony at The Inn at Mystic was outside with a really pretty view of the river.
Wanda at Ladybug Designs in North Stonington CT did a rally wonderful job with the flowers! I really loved Kristin’s bouquet so much, it was filled with textures and soft romantic colors.
Kristin and Chris didn’t want to see each other before the ceremony but opted instead for a ‘first touch’ where they don’t see one another, but they get to hold hands and hear one another’s voices. It adds a little more intrigue and anticipation to an already emotional day, and I really love the challenge of finding a spot to do these!
Kristin took a moment after all of the pre ceremony photos to sit quietly and read her letter from her future husband. I love when my clients make the time for this on their wedding day
Chris and his daughter have such a special bond!
I have to say I love seeing my photographs printed out! It adds a nice touch on the wedding day as well.
This floral arbor accent was so pretty, and tell me I don’t want to live in that house right behind the ceremony spot! I can just imagine being on that dock sipping an ice cold drink and enjoying the summer!
They hired a wedding painter, Rachel Miller Art. She was so sweet and really fun to watch her paint all night! Her insta is Rachel.miller.art – you should check her out!
Look closely in this image below: You can just peep the flower girl, a bridesmaid and Kristin peeking out the window at the ceremony!
Below you can see me at work (thanks Nikki!) This is the light you can see…
…and this is what I am loving on! Love that rim light and warm buttery glow so much!
Kristin and Chris, thank you so much for trusting me with your wedding! Congratulations- here’s to many happy years together! XO
