Colleen and Kean’s joyful Jonathan Edwards winery wedding in North Stonington CT was so much fun! We had beautiful light, a sudden storm in the middle of the day that gave us some dramatic clouds (thank you Mother Nature!) and lots of laughter, hugs and love. This just about sums up my perfect day of work: bearing witness to the love that two people share for one another while everyone looks their best.
When I first met Colleen and Kean I knew we would get along wonderfully. They are the perfect balance of just a little bit of shy (Colleen) and outgoing (that would be Kean). One of my favorite parts of what I do is to allow people the space to feel comfortable with me quickly, since timing is pretty much always a factor for their wedding day. I mean, who really has unlimited time to stroll around and create perfect portraits on a wedding day? Exactly! At their engagement session in Elizabeth Park in Hartford I watched them blossom together in front of my camera, and learned how sweet on one another they were.
Their wedding at Jonathan Edwards winery was even more sweet. They showed up ready to go, doing their first look in the vineyard itself with those ominous and beautiful clouds looming in the not far enough for my comfort distance.

The wedding suite at Jonathan Edwards Winery is filled with beautiful soft light. It’s a wonderful getting ready space!
One of the BEST matrons of honor, ever! She was so calm, cool helpful, collected and amazing!
Big Michigan State fans here, I love how Colleen incorporated the laces into her Kate Spade sneakers!
The guys arrived and some of the ladies snuck a peek at them all!
Kean waits patiently in the vineyard for Colleen to arrive for their first look. The clouds were rolling in faster than I had wanted, but we stayed the course and everything worked out perfectly!
Colleen was unflappable with this weather. It was very hot and muggy and the storm was coming, but she was calm and collected! I truly appreciated it because there is honestly no sense in stressing out about something you can’t control, not to mention we still got some really great pics!
Once it started to rain we headed in to the barrel room at Jonathan Edwards Winery and cooled off while enjoying the perfect light. It was also a nice moment for them to both just chill before everyone showed up for their wedding.
While waiting for the flowers to arrive the ladies had to duck under this very helpful tree once the rain came! I loved how relaxed everyone stayed. What a treat to work with such easy going people!
I loved this moment where Kean chatted with his grandparents during the rain. So sweet!
The skies gave way to big beautiful clouds and we got right to it! Their wedding party was so fun and easy to work with!
There is nothing I love more than a stone wall and some ferns!
I love how this tent made a great backdrop and asked the ladies to come back up for another pic, I couldn’t help it!
Colleen surprised Kean with music from Star wars for their recessional, he was so pumped!
When I asked the wedding party if they were happy for Kean and Colleen I got the most hilariously lackluster response! I literally burst out laughing and told them to show some love! They erupted into yells and hoots and my poor second shooter Nikki walked right into it all… ha ha ha!
Beautiful golden light and these two…. perfection!
If this isn’t the most adorable way to rock the reception, I am not sure what is! This little cutie pie knew all the words to a song from Frozen (I think?) and belted it out like she was on Broadway! It was so adorable!
Colleen and Kean, thank you both so much for trusting me with your day! I had such a great time with both of your families and all of your guests. Here is to many happy years together!
