Smith Farm gardens in East Haddam, Connecticut is one of the most beautiful spaces for a wedding or event I have seen in a long time. That’s saying something considering our Nutmeg State is host to some truly charming venues! The grounds are meticulously manicured, and the white farm house on the property has been lovingly restored with every detail thought of and attended to.
Earlier in the spring I partnered up with Alyssa of Alyssa Jean Signature Events, based in West Hartford, on a styled shoot. Alyssa is new to Connecticut and wanted to show some fresh new work to help attract new clients. She scoured the state looking for the perfect space to create beautiful work and she found Smith Farm Gardens. I had never heard of it before and was charmed immediately the second I stepped foot on their property. Full of gardens and fields, the light hots every spot just right. It is literally a photographer’s dream, and I was super happy the entire afternoon, poking around the property and practically every nook looking for spaces to photograph. Our models are my past clients, Caity and Ryan and it was so good to photograph them again! They fit the vibe of the shoot perfectly and brought their own easy energy and love to the day, making these images just sparkle and shine with their real love.
The entire day Alyssa attended to everything herself. She worked tirelessly and with a smile on her face the entire day, despite the heat. I can only imagine what magic she would work on a wedding day and would not hesitate to recommend her for planning your wedding or event. For me, it’s about so much more than just doing your job, it also about how you make everyone feel while you are doing it. Alyssa was calm, happy, and one step ahead of every detail the entire day! We had such a great time working together with our team of creative professionals curated by Alyssa herself.
We started the day with a picnic in the orchard on the property, as if it would be Ryan and Caity’s engagement session or a mini elopement. The grounds were perfect for this! Then Caity and Ryan changed into wedding attire and we had fun reflecting back on their very own wedding that I photographed a few years back, and it made this styled shoot even more magical! Thye are just the sweetest couple, so kind and loving with one another, I just love being around their energy!
