The excitement for their wedding to be at the Red Hat on the River in Irvington NY was the first thing I noticed when I first chatted with Maggie and Dave about their wedding. I was immediately intrigued. While I certainly love working at spaces that host weddings regularly, the opportunity to photograph a wedding at a new space is always fun. The Red Hat on the River did not disappoint! Not only that we had the most absolute gorgeous day for their wedding. Literally the day before they told me there were whitecaps on the water because of the high winds- they almost couldn’t have their wedding outside because it was so intense!
Never you mind, Mother Nature! Their wedding day was AMAZING! Blue skies, light breeze, full warm sun!

Dave’s family was so much fun to hang around while he got ready. There were so many laughs, so many Biore pore strips!
One brother putting on the pore strip, his Dad
That time during the getting ready when you discover that you babysat for one of Maggie’s bridesmaids! ALSO not only that I remember being literally obsessed with little baby Fiona, she looked like a real life Kewpie doll when she was a baby! She was SO CUTE!! Then! After she called her Mom we realized that my Mom was her Brownie troop leader! Cue the tears!!!!
Finding a first look location is always a challenge. Making sure the light is just right is important! This spot was perfect. It was private, shaded and those gate doors were gorgeous!
I could have spent a LOT more time in this little light nook! It was so pretty!
The space at Goosefeather Restaurant in Tarrytown NY located within the Tarrytown House Estates was GORGEOUS. I was incredibly inspired by the light and the space and we had to work fast before they opened for dinner service, but I was so ready for it!
That’s right. You see this waxy amazing fireplace mantle? BUDDY!! BUDDY. I scooted some tables over quickly and tasked the bride’s amazing sister Sarah with finding something to light those candles with because HELLO!! This space was straight out of a movie set and we HAD to do some portraits here!
Maggie’s eyes are the stunning. They are so many colors all in one!
My man DAVE!!! He just loved the camera and the camera loved him!
MAGGIE!!!!!! Yeah. I was yelling in my heart and maaayyybbeee out loud too! This whole scene had my heart pumping out straight glitter and hearts and puppies I was so excited!
Look how beautiful she is! GAH!!!!! And those dreamy candles?? ALLA THAT WAX??
I don’t see nearly enough anemone’s in bouquets and I was loving making eye contact with them!
Their families were so much fun to photograph. So smiley, so snuggly with each other. I loved it!
THE PLEATS.
The space at Red Hat on the River was SUPER INSPIRING. The staff was incredibly excellent to work with, so upbeat and accommodating. Made my job so much fun!
Side note: I am fully aware that many, many people find me via Google by searching for images of their wedding space. I am also aware that my couples choose their venue FOR A REASON!! So hello folks, let’s show how the space looks on their wedding day! I love doing scene setters of the space on the day it’s such an important part of the day.
Also, hi umbrellas! These were so much fun to work into the photos throughout the day! In addition to providing some much needed shade on this bright and sunny day!
I genuinely believe this is the kind of day Maggie and Dave dreamt of when they chose the Red Hat on the River for their wedding!
Masks pulling double duty here…they make a great tissue as well!
During the ceremony Dave was cracking us all up! He kept looking everywhere but at Maggie, in an attempt to not cry! DAVE! You are adorable and I say let that emotion fly free, brother!
See? Dave. DAVE!
MARRIED!!! Because we did their first look before the ceremony they were able to join their family and friends right away. A special treat now, because of this pandemic. Time with everyone in person is so valuable!
The sleekest of wedding parties, if there ever was one! I am a big big fan of the black cocktail dress, I have to say!
Yes. I did indeed have fun with these umbrellas! Horray for The Red Hat on the River!
So many of my clients tell me how much they value candids during their wedding. With there not being dancing allowed that was literally all I could do! It was a fun exercise for me to really dig deep and get some fun photos of people enjoying one another’s company!
Maggie and Dave, I am so happy for you both. Congratulations on your wedding! Looking forward to being your photographer for LIFE and seeing both of your family again soon! XOXOXO
