A summer outdoor wedding at The Owenego Inn in Branford CT was exactly what Casey and Dave had envisioned for themselves. It was absolutely gorgeous out! It was a warm summer day with beachgoers at the club watching the wedding day unfold from their seats at the beach. I loved the charm The Owenego Inn offers, and had visions of being a member there myself, enjoying the summer with my family, having a cold cocktail on the patio. It’s a really sweet spot and I was so happy to be there that day while Casey and Dave exchanged their vows on the lawn. I know I talk so much about light (for those of you who come back and read posts – potential clients or friends or my sweet girlfriend Melissa- hi babe!) but I just can’t not mention it here! The late afternoon light there was amazing, warm, thick and buttery and I knew it was going to be just perfect for what Casey and Dave had in mind when they decided to have their wedding there.
Casey mentioned wanting photographs in certain spots on the property and I would say, you got it! Later. When the light was just so. Trust me, I watch the light like a hawk and am not shy about calling my couples over so that we can grab some photos! Casey and Dave decided to trust me, and just dove into their reception and had fun, while I worked, photographed the reception, and kept my left eye on the sky!

Yes indeed Veuve in robes on the bed is an actual THING ladies! Can you see why? The photos are always so fun and commemorate your getting ready morning festivities perfectly!
Meanwhile, in New Haven, my second photographer Nikki absolutely crushed the guys photos!
I was more than a little obsessed with these bridesmaids gown colors- they were wonderful, and created such a visual harmony I am singing in my sleep I love them so much!
Such a sweet and authentic moment here!
If you have time for a receiving line, go for it! It’s a lovely way to greet your guests that made the time to be there for your special day.
Light, light light! So perfect and simple. You don’t always need crazy backgrounds for photos, especially if the light isn’t great in them. Instead I tend to let light make the decisions for me- not always- but it becomes my compass!
Earlier in the day Casey asked for a photo like this, but it felt too forced and not authentic. Little did she know it would happen organically when I asked her amazing wedding party to come over and help fluff about and help us with her train and veil! I love this so much! Trust me when I say I can make things happen while still being real!
Casey and Dave had so much fun during their first dance, I loved so many images but had to just put a few favorites in here for now!
During dinner my left eye called me and said HELLO Carla, the light is just about perfect, go grab Casey and Dave!
Hello, and thank you for my eye that kept watch over this golden and delicious light!
Perfection!
Capping off our golden hour session with some humor!
This is but a small taste for you, Casey and Dave! I had a wonderful time with you all and am so happy for you both! Congrats to you! XO
