I first met Kate years ago while shooting on Block Island- she had walked into my shot and I put my camera down to yell ‘HEY!’ (jokingly of course) and realized it was her and another CT photographer I knew! And on and on over the years, we ran into one another at venues, parks and the like as we both went about photographing our couples. When Kate got engaged to Lee, she reached out to me to be her photographer, and I cold not have been more flattered! Being the photographer who photographs other photographer’s weddings is a true compliment… and more than a little daunting. Because they KNOW all my secrets and tricks and industry smooth moves… or so I imagine! I still think I pulled a few over on Kate and Lee with my ninja ways and sparkly smile 🙂
Despite their ceremony getting rained out the rain decided to subside and we got to poke about the land in the wet grass and create some pretty great portraits together! When I first met with Kate and Lee they both told me how uncomfortable they were with being on the other side of the camera… so I knew I had my work cut out for me! Little did we all know how comfortable they would end up being (we had a great experience during their engagement session, you can check out their post HERE) Talk about making me feel all of the feels… to get them both to the point that they both feel comfortable in front of my camera was a wonderful feeling! On their wedding day we had such a sense of ease and comfort together, it made all of our portraits feel so effortless.
