An opportunity to drive a bit and see another beautiful part of New England is always a yes for me. Courtney and Matt’s Portsmouth engagement session was exactly what I needed to get my season back to the ways of years past. Not that I am in any rush, I have to be honest. If there is one thing I have been enjoying from this past year, it was the time I had to just…be. To be home, in my garden, with my kids. My cats. Enjoying thoroughly all of the things I have worked so hard for over these past 19 years of being a wedding and event photographer.
One of my mantras in life is “If it doesn’t feed my family or feed my soul, I’m not doing it.” Meeting Courtney and Matt was so satisfying for my soul!! We literally belly laughed from the very first moment that we met in person until we parted ways at the beach after the sun set. Courtney’s smile is GIGANTIC and absolutely contagious, I felt so free to just be myself to the one thousandth percent! Matt was a little on the quieter side, and as the afternoon wore away into sunset and twilight, he came out of his shell more and more and just felt so comfortable being himself in the photos with Courtney. That, my friends, is a WIN for me. To really just allow my clients to be themselves, truly. To open up at their speed. I can truly see how much they each love the other, and made me completely obsessed with them and even more excited for their wedding!
We started our session in Prescott Park in Portsmouth New Hampshire. I had been there a long time ago during the fall, when the garden was absolutely filled with flowers. This time around there was really only this gigantic hedge of rhododendrons and I was absolutely HERE for it!
Just look at that SMILE. HOLY MOSES.
Literally minutes in. Already have the shy guy smiling and laughing! Honestly how can anyone NOT smile and laugh around Courtney? She is literally like the sun! So warm, so full of bright, loving energy!
We poked around the area for a bit, then decided after Prescott Park and their Portsmouth engagement we needed to stop for a cocktail while we waited for the sun to set a bit more.
Our next stop was Great Island Common in New Castle New Hampshire. And HELLO DOLLY was just about all I could say! The sun was golden and delicious and despite the absolutely CHILLY temps after a gorgeous week we had a blast!
Then we could see the moon? Cherry on top of a wonderful day!
So we loved this spot because the waves were just slapping the absolute MESS out of the jetty there giving us this great spray. There were two fishermen there who cast their lines then left so we could shoot there. Welp. One of them got some fish biting on his line and he scooted in super quick to grab them and Courtney and Matt’s reaction was so hilarious!
The magical way these two are together just makes my heart sing!
Everywhere we looked the light was amazing and beautiful. I loved how easy you both are to work with, how kind you are to one another, how patient and cuddly and just in LOVE! I had so much fun with you both and cannot WAIT for your wedding! XOXOXOX
