Jennifer and Jared’s Spring Harkness engagement session in Waterford CT was the perfect semi official start to my 2021 wedding and event season. After many delays and postponements from 2020 it sure feels like the starting bell has gone off and the world as we knew it is back in action. I admit it feels incredibly overwhelming, so I have challenged myself with staying focused on the task at hand. Today’s task: photographing this beautiful spring Harkness engagement session with two lovely people!
Harkness Park in the Spring is a beautiful thing. Actually it’s a beautiful thing at literally every part of every season. When we were there everything was juuuust about to bloom!
One of the most beloved spots is the Japanese Maple, which also served as the burial ground for the pets of the owners of Harkness! It’s a sweet spot, and I love challenging myself to see it in a fresh light each time I go.
Maaaaybe Jennifer was chuckling at my wedging myself into the bushes to get this perspective. Maybe.
There are so many structures and little nooks and crannies to poke about around all over Harkness. It’s an adventure each and every time.
We were a bit ahead of Mother Nature, but were so appreciative of this small field of daffodils still in full bloom! I am excited to be heading back to Harkness for another session next week!
This little courtyard is always a favorite. Their outfits worked perfectly with the space, and I was grateful it wasn’t locked up as it has been in the past!
I know most people say they want a ton of sun… but this moody, silvery light is so beautiful and worked with their outfits beautifully!
I love their faces here when the water hit their feet for the first time… it was BRISK!
Late afternoon on the beach at Harkness Park is one of the most beautiful times, even when it’s cloudy and silvery. Jennifer and Jared, thank you so much for trusting me with your engagement session at Harkness. I wish you the best for your wedding out of state and am so happy I got the opportunity to get to know you both a bit and have such fun photographing you both!
