A tented wedding at someone’s home is always one of my favorite locations for a wedding. It’s like a bit of a blank canvas, with a tent (and a Sperry tent at that! My favorite!) you can create something that is truly a reflection of the couple and their taste, mixed in with the personal, with it being at a family home and all. I love it! Seeing the magic that Sarah True and her team at True Event put together on this blustery and quite rainy day was spectacular to watch! Everything went off without a hitch, and we made the most of those short, non-torrential downpour moments and created some pretty magical photographs together!
Lee and Matt were calm and collected in the midst of this literal storm, and it really showed in their photographs! Their wedding party was so much fun to work with and really hustled with us during our short breaks of ‘sun’ so that we could get all of the shots we had hoped for for Lee + Matt! Lee was the epitome of classic beauty, and Matt was absolutely dashing in his tuxedo!
Their ceremony was one of the most memorable ones, with some of the best readings I have ever heard. They really hit me in the feels and I left thinking a lot about them long after their wedding was over. I still do! One was a children’s book called ‘I Like You’ that was read in its entirety. It struck me on many levels and I am now realizing I need a copy of this book! Matt’s grandfather officiated the ceremony, and brought that personal touch to their ceremony even more. It was so sweet to hear his kind words about them both, and he was just so adorable to photograph on top of it all!!
Big thanks to my team for the day, Jacob Bergmeier + Joel Callaway who hustled at every turn to get what we needed- even going so far as Joel throwing Jake on his shoulders to get a shot (I am lamenting the fact that I missed this, but heard the roar of the crowd they were shooting as this happened!!!) To braving the cheese tent that was a work of art (who knew photographing cheese would be so much fun!)
Thank you to Lee + Matt’s parents for being so wonderful to work with, to the team at True Events and Tom Morlock for always making me laugh while we work! Congratulation Lee + Matt! Here’s to many happy years ahead together! XOXO

I had Joel Callaway stationed on the roof for this shot. I mean, he’s super tall already but why not go the extra mile for a shot like this!!
