Last week there was this one day. Super rainy. And of course it was the one day we picked for our engagement session in Essex! No matter! We went ahead with our shoot (for many reasons, but the main one being that I don’t cancel shoots for rain, what if it rains on your wedding? Don’t you want a photographer who is comfortable working in the rain?) I am so glad that Courtney + Pete were the epitome of easy going and didn’t let the rain worry them for one second! It certainly didn’t worry me, and I really loved how the colors just popped, and the mood just seemed perfect. On my way to meet with them I took a wrong turn (yes, even with GPS) and passed this little pond and just gasped… it was perfect. Colorful, moody, rainy, awesome. I had to come back with them! I rushed off to get them and brought them back and they were game to use the umbrella or not! So we gauged everything by how hard the rain was falling and worked with lightning speed and laughed the whole time!
On my drive down, I was sad to see that most of the fall color seemed to be long gone…until I found this little spot of color and was so happy I did!
Essex CT is one of my favorite towns in New England. So much charm, white picket fences, shuttered windows, the water, The Griswold Inn…
At this point, it was raining pretty hard so we ducked into little spots to avoid the rain and made some magic happen! This is one of my favorite things to do, find light and create some magic where others may not see it!
Courtney + Pete, I had THE best time talking with you guys and avoiding the rain! Start a taco night! Remember, in Hartford- Monte Alban is the joint! I can’t wait for your wedding guys!! XOXOXO
