One of the weddings I am looking forward to photographing so much this year has got to be Christopher + Tyler’s. And not just because the countdown has been more dramatic and drawn out than say, Kim and Kanye’s! Because that has been super fun to watch on Facebook (since we are all friends and we ‘like’ each other’s gym pics!) But it’s also because I get to see Chris’ family again, all together celebrating. I met Chris in 2010 when I photographed his sister, my home girl for life, Liz Krankowitz. No. That is not her real name but it kind of is to me! Sometimes I even find myself yelling it out loud in the studio when I am alone! KRANKOWITZ! Like now. I just did that now. And then laughing! Because not only is that just weird to do, it makes me laugh because those Stafford kids just crack me up with their incessant movie quoting and laughing and poking fun at everything and everyone! They welcomed me into their inner circle so quickly and even though I have no idea which movie quotes are flowing around I can get down with the gangster lyrics Krankowitz just spouts off at any given moment. Nothing says Connecticut same sex wedding more than this whole paragraph, am I right? Back to the point!
Chris and Tyler are just so fun to be around. I feel like their cool aunt who just happens to be that annoying family member who is ALSO a professional photographer. We all know that aunt, and believe me we all hate her at weddings with her pro camera gear and better angles than us because she can sit in the FRONT OF THE PEW! I hate her. Not really, she’s cool. Just, you know, don’t post anything before me on Facebook! But see, that is me. I am that aunt to them, or at least I feel like it! So thank you for making me feel like family guys!
On our shoot we poked around one of our favorite places, The Ocean House in Watch Hill Rhode Island for the afternoon! We warmed up with some wine at the bar, then got cozy around the property, which is simply stunning! I was lucky enough to be one of the first people to stay there when it first opened back in the day and have since photographed many weddings and engagements there so I know so many little nooks and things.. it was fun to see them all with two people who adore this place as much as I do!
Chris and Tyler, I cannot wait to photograph your wedding this fall, to see the love in your faces as you see each other and marry one another in front of all of your friends and family! I am honored to be included, am honored to be that weird aunt for you both, and can’t wait to show you how I see your day! I love you both!! XOXO
