There were so many things that I loved about Kirsten + Thomas’ wedding at The Lord Thompson Manor this summer. So many!! First off, and most importantly, I just adore Kirsten and Thomas and how easy going and light they are! Nothing seemed to stress them out, not during our engagement session, or during our pre-planning meetings and come the day of the wedding with all of the moving parts that a wedding day has in it… nothing fazed them! And why would it? When you have the beehive of efficiency that is the staff at the Manor, nothing goes wrong! As a vendor, I have to say how much I love working with them all! They treat me as their creative partner and not as the hired help. They treat guests so well, always have a smile on their faces and are one step ahead of pretty much everyone! So of course Kirsten + Thomas were at ease…!
We had great weather (a little rain that stopped) and so many great vignettes to take photos in and everyone was in good spirits! Their officiant, Victoria Burdick, was so present and in tune with what the day was all about. It’s not about the timing as they walked down the aisle, or where everyone should stand. I mean sure, yeah. But it’s really about joining two families as oneĀ and creating a life together. It’s about making that choice to do this, clearly saying ‘I choose YOU as my family’ and then doing it! It’s one of the few times in our lives when we can make the choice to do this, and it’s something that I am happy to not lose sight of!
And their families were so amazing! So happy and full of smiles and laughter and tears! Everyone there was so happy to be there, so present and willing to stand up and support Kirsten + Thomas’ new beginning. I was beyond honored to be there with them all, and in the end, literally right smack in the middle of it all! I have never been chanted out of the wedding by such a gaggle of amazing bridesmaids like I was there!! When I went up to Kirsten to say goodnight, I also snuggled each bridesmaid because they were so much fun! Only to be surrounded by them all chanting my name over and over! It takes a lot to make this girl blush, but boy was my face red… and big thanks to my super second shooter Joel Callaway for making sure he preserved this amazing moment forever!!
Kirsten + Thomas, I am so so happy for you both as you start your new life together and am beyond honored to have been your photographer for this whole year! I hope to see you both soon!! XOXOXOXO
