A Milford Audubon Society engagement session in Milford CT is one of the most sunset-y beachy spots for a session. When Paula and I chatted about where she was considering for her engagement session location, she said she wanted something with a bohemian feel to it. After chatting with my close friend and amazing CT wedding planner Amy Champagne, she sent me the link to this beautiful styled shoot she did at the Milford Audubon Society in Milford CT. After scrolling through her shoot I was hooked; I knew this was the spot for Paula and Justin’s engagement session!
I first met Paula on a zoom meeting about her wedding when the pandemic had the world in full lockdown. Meetings with potential new clients were few and far between, and for good reason. The world had come to a complete stand still, as the future of, well, everything, was on complete hold. When Paula and I started talking about the planning, her wedding, the craziness of the world…our conversation just flowed effortlessly. It was one of the most normalizing conversations I had during the pandemic. I was lost in wedding details, anime, her life with Justin. Normal. Normal. Normal. After chatting for an hour or so I caught my breath and realized I hadn’t thought about the pandemic once during that entire hour. Then I burst into tears. I was so… grateful. Grateful to Paula and her cheery, honest conversation for absolutely immersing me for that hour. Grateful that she called me to talk about photographing her wedding. Grateful to be hired during a pandemic, even if it wasn’t until 2022, which felt so far away I couldn’t even fathom it.
So Paula’s Milford Audubon Society engagement session with Justin was super special to me… and I had a great time fully immersing myself in the whole experience, and forgetting about all the stress of the past year.
We started at the lookout area to get them both comfortable in front of my camera, laughing and just being goofy.
Fair warning to anyone wanting to shoot here around sunset, it is buggy as HECK. I literally wanted to scream and yell and run around in circles. But what I did not do was put my camera down for one second. I kept it moving, soaked in that light and laughter and probably also some bugs!
This little beach nook was BANANAS amazing! I loved the light here soooo much!
More light, more light MORE LIGHT IT IS DELICIOUS AND AMAZING!!!
And…. I just exploded in a pop of glitter and buttery delicious light!!
On the way back to the parking lot, the field water area hoo ha place was just soaking in warm sunlight. Of course, we had to stop there and dilly dally as the sun set around us. It was amazing!
Paula and Justin, thank you so much for trusting me, for hiring me, for helping me feel some normal during this awful year. You are a bright spot for me and I will be forever grateful!
