Teaching this past month’s Ten Eyck Tuesday Lighting Photography workshop was beyond amazing. Watching everyone literally ‘see the light’ and then me seeing the proverbial light going off in their heads and eyes as they connected all of the dots was, as I said it- pretty amazing.
I can’t say I wasn’t intimidated once I thought about what I was putting myself out there to do. Me? Teach a lighting class? I can think of about 27 other photographers who can name that color temperature faster than I can say Pocket Wizard! OK sorry that was a little on the nerdy side but you know all the geeks in the house laughed! But seriously. Let’s take those manuals and put them where they belong: under my coffee table that rocks a little and ends up spilling my drinks! For real!
And so we ventured out into the chilly night and explored the light that was around us, and all of the light that we brought along for the ride…
Here is my 2010 client Kelsey (from the RI beach engagement shoot with her fiancee Jeff) braving the opposite weather extreme because, well, she is awesome!
Seriously. I think I am going to say that a lot.
Here Eileen and Sara work it out

Teaching the Ten Eyck Two Light! Oh boy that’s kinda catchy …!
I just love photographing photographers photographing.
And tricky sentences.

These are beautiful Carla. I love love love the lighting – you rock!
Carla, you are so talented I can’t stand it!! Thanks for sharing!
Awesome! Thanks, Carla! I definitely second Carrie’s comment about warm clothes for the Jan and Feb workshops. Almost lost a toe or two this time, but it was still worth it!
you better copyright the “Ten Eyck 2-Light”—and FAST!!! and by the way – you really know how to work that christmas light bokah ( another nerd term)
I just LOVE your commentary! And your photos! And your workshops–see you Jan. 12–can’t wait!
Sorry I can’t make it tonight, I’m sure it will be a hot pink blast!
Night shots usually aren’t my favorite. not so here; these are absolutely, gorgeously amazing! love love love these!
as always, these are gorgeous…i love the effect of the christmas lights!
FANTASTIC time! Thank you Carla. I had a blast. A note to upcoming workshop attendants, bring things to keep you warm: gloves, scarves, A FLASK…… if it was cold in December, your bumpkins are going to be chilly in January and Feb!!! But it will be worth it!
YahOOO! What an awesome fun time. And it was a great learning experience to boot! Kelsey was a dream model. Other than my cold toes–everything was perfect! Including the homemade cookies. =) Yor shots are breathtaking. Could never pick a favorite but the ones under the letters ‘E’ ‘R’ and ‘I’ are WoW.
Carla, these are beautiful! I love the holiday lights. I would love to take one of your next lighting classes!
