This maaaaaay be why I am sick again, or, better yet- this may be precisely why I love what I do. Now, I know. I see you rolling your eyes while you sit in your cubicle hoping your boss doesn’t catch you reading my blog! (hey! Don’t sweat it I catch my studio manager Dominique reading it all the time at work! )
… I am just ANOTHER photographer spouting off HOW MUCH I LOVE MY JOB! Gag me, I know. But I am going to be one of those today and I don’t care who knows it! (1/2 of an Elf quote thrown in there! come on. sweat me!)
Now, first off one of the things I love about what I do is the part where I can get out of the house and see some things. Like the NYC. It’s but a hop, skip and a Henry Hudson away from my hood, and I truly enjoy going into the City with a capital C! I do not, however, enjoy paying for the crazy parking garage fees! But I do it, and all the while with a wink a nod and a smile on my pink cheeked face!
Here is the part where I think I helped myself get sick. And no! Not from my ultra corny quips and quotes here folks! From being out in the freezing cold shooting for hours! (side note, this is not really how you get sick, it’s from viruses and port -o- potties, and people who wipe their eyes all the time… AND people who sneeze into their HANDS!!!! DUMMIES!!!! STOP DOING THAT!!!! Sneeze into your ELBOWS people!) Little Public Service Announcement for you!
Wait. I have another one! Don’t go see the movie Black Swan and expect it to be mildly scary, and not at all totally crazy! Do NOT go see it with your parents! It was well done, but totally sold the wrong way. Great acting. Awesome dancing- real or faux who knows but I loved it. Minus the whole ballerina feet thing. Grody! ok I’m done.
OK. Back to my amazing job, and why I love it and how I am now sick but it’s not because of the cold! Or something along those lines… Lauren and Stephen brought me into New York for some Winter Time Fun. There was skating in Central Park, followed by some checking out of windows on 5th Avenue- OMG – made my head spin in the best way!! Topped off with seeing THE tree of all trees…. the Momma- at Rockefeller Plaza. With a dash of the typical C10 sparkle time ADHD thrown in for good measure!!!
So here we are, starting at the Trump Skating Rink in Central Park! What a view.

I kinda felt like I was playing a video game! I’d spot them! Then I’d shoot. Then I’d take my camera away from my face. Then I’d lose them! Then I’d be like WHERE ARE THEY! And then I would find them. And then I would lose them. Does that even sound like a video game? Well, not one you would want to play on your Xbox but I was certainly enjoying myself!

I tried things that I thought for SURE would get me kicked out, or at the very least a reprimand! But no! They let me lie down in the way of everyone with nary a hairy eyeball to be had!

Now. Sometimes I have good ideas, I can accept that. Sometimes I… think I do? But then they turn out to be totally terrible. This would be one of those very times! Putting an engagement ring on some marshmallows sounds like a good idea? If you had the ginormous ones from Stew Leonard’s maybe!!! But the mini ones from Trump Rink? Noooooot so much!
Maybe the best part of this whole scenario was how quickly Miss Lauren agreed with my plan and just went for it! I like a client who trusts me!

bloooooooooooop!!!! went her ring.
Check out their reactions!!! I am So glad my boy Jim Altieri of Vintage Cinema was there to get this!

Turns out it didn’t really phase Lauren, she just cleaned it up and called it a day!

Her ring was actually still in her cocoa here…. beee teee double you! How can you not love this girl!!

And Stephen! Mr. Photogenic.

I love some snuggle time on a chilly day!

And so then…… we went a walking! Heading over towards 5th ave and beyond where what to my wondering eyes should appear??? Why a SLEW of xmas lights!!! And so here I was in C10 sparkle time heaven!!!

They got a kick out of my reactions!! I was hootin’ and hollerin’ with joy!!

There is this time of day where the sky is so blue blue blue and I love love love it!

I am hugging this picture from my chair. Jazz Hands on the remote light in back! JAZZY!!!!!!

There are things that give me photo butterflies and dude. This is totally one of them. Yes. I said it. PHOTO BUTTERFLIES!!!! Get. in. my. BELLY!! The squishy dreamy scooba dee DOO lights!!!! That is the technical term for this folks. Look it up.

I’m still dancing in my chair here!!!! Mostly over camera to subject to background ratios and telephoto compression!!!!… I said mostly!

Nerdy bo Berdy time here people. Seriously. Check out how the lights look in the shot above, (shot on my Nikon D3s at 75 mm on a 70-200mm at f 3.2 / 1/200th of a sec / ISO 3200) versus the shot below (same camera / at 175mm / f 2.8 / 1/200th of a sec / ISO 3200) How fun is that!! Play around with your zooms, give those wide angles a break!

We stopped at this beautiful hotel and took a few shots, then had a cocktail to warm up before heading out to a FANTASTIC dinner at Pomodoro’s on 56th and 9th. And we saw Jackie Mason! Google him, he used to be a big shot I think! Not Jackie Gleason. Which is who I thought.

Just a taste of the windows at Bergdorf Goodman. OMG.My pictures actually suck, go see these in person, they are AMAZING!

These two clowns kept me company for the day! Jimmmmaaayyyyyyy! Altieri and Miss Jasmine, my super in house editor for the studio!!

Lauren and Stephen, man. I cannot WAIT for your wedding. You two were such a blast I hope you can both see how incredibly photogenic and beautiful / handsome you are!!!!!!
